Tenth Avenue North is a relatively new Contemporary Christian music band from West Palm Beach, Florida.. It features Mike Donehey on vocals and acoustic guitar, Jeff Owen on electric guitar and backup vocals, drummer Jason Jamison, and Scott Sanders on bass guitar.
The band has toured with David Crowder Band and MercyMe and headlines their own dates throughout the United States.They won the New Artist of the Year award at the 40th GMA Dove Awards in April 2009. Later this spring, they have been invited to be part of the 2010 Until The World Hears Tour with Casting Crowns.
The band's next single, By Your Side, was released in late August 2008. It became a #1 hit on Christian CHR radio in 2009. Both songs Love Is Here and By Your Side were inspired by the Bible Verse Romans 5:8, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (NIV) God proves His love and Christians do not have to wait until they get their act together to come to God. God is full of mercy and welcomes everyone with unconditional love. He never leaves. Love is here. He's by your side.
The video for Love is Here, which can be seen on Youtube [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], gave the band a chance to do something not many Christians get to do. In the video, they enter a rather large city and set up their band on the rooftop of one of the downtown buildings. They begin playing, Love Is Here. As people pass by they hear the words love is here. Those who are thirsty will never thirst again. Those who have been working so hard in their own strength will never work alone again. Come to the treasure you who search and you will never search again. Love is here. Love satisfy. There's mercy flowing from His sides. What an awesome way to evangelize to the down hearted, lost and hopeless.
By Your Side
Their debut album, Over and Underneath, was released on May 20, 2008 with Reunion Records.Their song [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Love Is Here, hit the Top 20 on the U.S. Contemporary Christian Music chart, and reached #3 by June 21 [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 2008. By the end of 2008, Love Is Here was the 12th most-played song on Christian Hit Radio according to R&R magazine's Christian CHR chart for the year.
