The flick opens with Susan Murphy (Reese Witherspoon) about to marry weatherman Derek Dietl (Paul Rudd). But a meteorite mysteriously falls from the sky and lands on the bride-to-be, making her grow to a height of 49' 11.5" tall ("I guess rounding up would have been a copyright violation," writes Capone).

But Gen. Monger has a plan: unleash Susan and an assorted group of 'monsters' – brainless but indestructible (Seth Rogen), mad scientist Dr. Cockroach Ph.D. (House's Hugh Laurie), recently defrosted Missing Link (Will Arnett) plus oversized caterpillar Insectosaurus – against the alien invader in exchange for their freedom.
According to "Capone" from AICN, you can add DreamWorks Animation's Monsters vs. Aliens to that awesome list. He caught it at Chicago's Butt Numb-a-Thon X and, "I had a blast watching this movie."
He praises co-director Conrad Vernon (who also co-directed Shrek 2), saying, "He knows where all the lines are drawn and exactly how far over them he can put his big toe. Sure the film is sweet and charming most of the time, but it's when things get a little ornery and mischievous that things really start to cook."
Monsters vs. Aliens opens March 27th
Cue a colossal alien robot landing on earth, piloted by Gallaxhar ("voiced with pure maniacal splendor by Rainn Wilson"), who tells the President (Stephen Colbert) that he plans to destroy the world.
"This has got to be the best 3-D I've seen in an animated film," he continues. "There's a scale and depth to this 3-D work that is unrivaled . . . a fight scene on the Golden Gate Bridge . . . Your jaw will collect bugs from being open for so long."
"There's no doubt . . . that is going to be the fan favorite of the bunch [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," Capone writes. "(He's) basically the stoner . . . he's easily distracted, giggles at everything, and . . . he's a blob."
