Treatment For Foot Calluses
A combination of methods can optimize your results safely and effectively. Soaking your feet in warm water will soften the corn and make them easier to remove with a callus shaver. Be cautious when using these devices - even though they are designed not to cut the skin,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as they use a razor. If this solution makes you weary try a pumice stone.
If calluses obscure developing ulcers, it is even more critical that calluses be managed. One common way for calluses to be managed is shaving the calluses. The American Diabetes Association strongly recommends a professional caregiver such as a podiatrist perform any shaving or "debridement" procedure. Moreover, the procedure must be repeated regularly.
Treatment for Foot Calluses
The only way to permanently remove a callous is to remove the cause. Hence, unless you are totally sedentary and bedridden, you are likely to have one or more callous on your feet. Calluses do return and return no matter how often you scrape them off. In fact they provide a profitable line of repeat business for pedicurists!
Wear shoes that fit. A simple instruction but one that is frequently ignored particularly by those following fashion. Unfortunately ill fitting shoes are the source of many a foot problem. Ideally shoes should fit well and not rub anywhere. If necessary add insoles or protective cushions. Remember anything that causes rubbing, pressure or pinching can result in a callus.
Well foot calluses are easily treated. The simple solution is to remove the pressure causing the calluses in the first place. Once the pressure has been removed the callus should subside, so long as it is treated with care. Understandably, if pressure has been caused in that area it is most likely due to actions the host is taking that is causing such pressure. A comfortable pair of shoes might be in order and rest from staying on your feet for long periods is advised.
Foot calluses are the ugly lumps on your feet. They are also called "corns". They are made by the body as a result of rubbing and chafing of the skin for a long period of time. Our feet spend the whole day, for the most of us, inside our shoes. Half of us have fashionable shoes that are very uncomfortable. And the skin in our feet suffers from this.
Bunions are a condition in which the joint at the base of the big toe becomes enlarged. Many times bunions are caused by flat feet, and faulty foot structure. As such you may see bunions more prevalent in one family tree as opposed to another. With the natural structure of the foot many times being the root cause, providing but temporary relief from the pain via padding,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], supports,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], shoe inserts and or medications are the only options short of surgery.
Beyond the practical treatments which include shoes that fit and soaking your feet in warm water; there are natural-solutions, prescriptions, and over the counter treatments. Natural solutions include putting tea tree oil on the problem area. This should soften the corn in the same way as soaking your feet in warm water does. Other options are to soak a cloth or bandage in vinegar and wrap it around the problem region.
Corns and calluses can be prevented or will often go away when you eliminate the rubbing and friction that causing them. Use of padding to prevent the pressure and use of plasters to prevent friction is the best way to treat a corn. Medicated corn plasters containing salicylic acid can soften and break down the hard skin and are helpful with corns on the sole of the foot.
Treating foot corns by using removing ointments that contain acid can damage healthy skin on the other areas of the foot. Also, if the foot corn is open and discharging pus or a clear fluid it may be infected and you will need to seek medical treatment for a complete evaluation.
Sometimes the corn area of the foot can become infected. If this happens and there is the formation of unhealthy skin tissue,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], this may have to be addressed by your healthcare provider. You physician will remove the unhealthy skin tissue and most likely issue you a prescription in order to address the infection.
It is understandable how; with 56% of clients that have gone to a doctor for a scalpel treatment and have had their calluses come back, finding a cure may seem like a lost cause. Our experience shows that when one cuts the skin or even shave off dry skin, the body reacts like it would to any other cut and starts to heal itself by growing replacement skin that is tougher and drier.
The first step to treatment is finding out the cause of the callus. Do you have a foot deformity? Do you have a bunion or a hammertoe? Any type of deformity that rubs on the shoe will result in callus formation. Do you have abnormal mechanics? For example, pronation. If your feet roll in excessively, it is common to have callus development at the inside of the heel and at the big toe.
Use moisturizers regularly on your calluses. There are a lot of skin-care moisturizers out there that help soften the skin and get rid of calluses. There are even skin creams and moisturizers that are specially made to treat and combat calluses. If you're looking for one, it is suggested that you look for a moisturizer with lactic acid or urea. Alpha hydroxy acids are especially good for dry skin.
