Since their early teen years, Tomas Sinclair, Hilary Lanyon, Clare MacDonald, and Tony Kaill have all played in various bands in and around Halifax [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Nova Scotia. Each one of these musicians has devoted countless hours to perfecting their composition and performance techniques.
Together they are The StillFrames, a self-described alternative rock/indie pop band, on their way to the top.

Music and Performances
Their next performance was for a Dalhousie fundraiser, Shinerama, held at The Frigate (in the basement of Pogue Fado). Although there were several bands that played, The StillFrames received significant and genuine praise from the audience that the other bands could not elicit.
Playing bass is Tony Kaill, who is also the lead singer and guitar player in another band called Cafe Vienna. Tony took recording arts at Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) and is beginning the Music program at Dalhousie University this year. His composition expertise can be heard in the band's songs, especially on their latest tune Release in which there are notable changes in tempo and key.
Their EP titled Release, was recorded by Andrew Wiseman of Tupperware Remix Party; who has recorded The Gamma Gamma Rays and other notable Halifax bands. The EP took two long, but productive days to record and was released on August 23, 2010. There are three songs on it: Release [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], their latest and greatest, Heads or Tails, and Lay Your Love, a personal favorite. The first two can be heard on the band's MySpace page which is definitely worth a look. Information on where to pick up a copy of their EP will be posted on their site as soon as it is available.
The past couple of months have been very busy for The StillFrames. On Natal Day, they opened at Alderney Landing, for headliners The Novaks and Matt Mays. Rock/blues guru Andrew Gillis was very impressed with The StillFrames' set and said he was blown away.
Tomas Sinclair is the lead guitar player and songwriter whose travels allowed him to explore a multitude of diverse musical stylings--and undoubtedly influence the band's sound. He is a Dalhousie student completing a double major in International Development Studies and Sociology. Although he enjoys his degree, Tom (and his band-mates) aspire to a career as professional musicians.
The StillFrames have an alternative/indie rock style all their own but cite great bands like Kings of Leon [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Bloc Party, and Metric as influences. Their lyrics are soulfully written about love, loss, and living life the way it should be lived. Each song's complementing melody evokes the joyful or sad emotions that accompany life's mundane and milestone moments.
The Band Members
The StillFrames' sound would not be the same without lead vocalist Hilary Lanyon. She returned to Halifax this summer from Toronto where she is currently taking Acting and Performance Art at York University. It was then that The StillFrames officially began making and performing their music. Her vocal training is apparent throughout their songs, including her significant octave range.
Despite some minor mishaps, The StillFrames rocked their August 18th performance at Gus' Pub and thoroughly enjoyed doing so. They announced at this show that their first EP would be available to the public within the next few days.
Clare MacDonald rounds out the foursome on drums, providing the body rocking beats of The StillFrames' sound. She performed with the prestigious Ceremonial Guard on Parliament Hill last summer and is currently taking percussion at Dalhousie.
