Hughes is explaining what happens when dreams are postponed or crushed. Sting is explaining how the deferring of action will lead to war, chaos, and eventually anarchy if the world's leaders continue to do nothing about the then current political issues.
The message being conveyed in No Time This Time, talks about how the world’s leaders are wasting time with political talk and meetings [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], stating that if action isn’t taken soon, it will be too late to prevent the consequences that will imminently affect the world and its inhabitants.
Lack of Political Action
The song holds a similar concept to Langston Hughes’ A Dream Deferred. While Hughes is talking about broken dreams and Sting is wailing on the lack of world action, I feel that both works have a similar tone. Both are looking to bring to light something that the world is choosing not to see.
The cosmic and complicated drumming by Stewart Copeland, extremely influential and frantic riffs by guitarist Andy Summers, and a hammering bass line and high pitched vocals by Sting drive this track. The guitars and bass are a driving force are to be reckoned with.
The lyrics are accelerated and distorted, thus hinting at sense of paranoia and hurriedness. Sting plays with the audience by going up and down his voice scale [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], trying to draw their attention. By the chorus the singer’s voice begins to crescendo down, and then explodes into what seems to be, not singing [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but shouting as he lets the listeners know that they are running out of time.

Similarities to Other Works
The vocals are not exactly singing, but yelling and screaming. This symbolizes the government’s lack of acknowledging the public’s outcry.
It was late 1978 when The Police released a B-side to their single So Lonely. The ‘B’ side, a frenetic, upbeat melody called No Time This Time, was a demanding but unpopular testament to the lack of world action. The song was later included on the group’s second album Regatta de Blanc the following year.
While an unpopular track compared to many other songs by The Police, this piece sits with many listeners as a perfect political and motivational message. It joins the ranks with other songs The Police has made, including Driven to Tears and Bombs Away, as a perfect way of exposing the world to the political limelight.
Ironically, many people mistake this song for an extremely upbeat rock melody, when it is in fact exposing them to political warfare.
Like most songs of its time (the majority being disco and punk rock), this song blends rock, punk, and pop together with Sting’s high pitched vocals and semi deep base along with guitarist Andy Summers’ powerful riffs and drummer Stewart Copeland’s kinetic and accelerated beats in order to create a harmony to send a message.
