The title Torture Garden comes from the name of a sideshow at a carnival, where customers witness a wax dummy being fried in an electric chair. However, for an extra fiver, certain customers can see a private show, where Dr. Diablo promises them true horror. Five people take him up on it, including Ronald Wyatt, played by Jack Palance.

This is a device for telling several short tales, but it totally works.
The second customer is Carla, played by Beverly Adams. Carla is an actress whose ambition is to be a star - at the risk of her humanity.
Who knew that Burgess Meredith could be so creepy? He is wonderful as Dr. Diablo, the man behind the horror. He tells each of the customers to step up to a wax figure of a woman holding shears and tells them to stare at her, that they will see the horror, the evil within themselves - a possible future for each of them.
This film was written by Robert Bloch (yes, the man that wrote Psycho), and based on his own short stories. Each tale is effective on its own, and they all work well together to create an eerie whole. The film was directed by Freddie Francis air max ltd men's, who also directed such films as Dracula Has Risen From The Grave nike air max 97, Trog and The Creeping Flesh.
Jack Palance plays Ronald Wyatt, the fourth customer, and the only one eager to have a go at this. In his vision he plays an almost manic collector of anything Edgar Allan Poe. He meets a man with the most complete collection of Poe memorabilia - a character played by Peter Cushing, who invites Jack Palance to his home to see his collection. Jack Palance takes him up on it, and learns that the collection is more complete than perhaps one might expect.
Warning: do not read the back of the DVD box, for it gives away a big part of the ending. Seriously air max ltd, it tells stuff that happens in the last two minutes of the film. If one must read the back at all, read only the first sentence. Reading any further will ruin the film.

In each story, in each vision, the characters see things that they're not directly involved in - scenes that they're not in - which is a little odd. If it's a possible future of theirs, why would they see scenes involving other people? But that is one of the film's only flaws, and one that can be overlooked.
The first customer is Colin, played by Michael Bryant. In his vision he visits his uncle in order to ask for money. His uncle is very sick, dying, but is reputed to have a collection of gold coins, which Colin seeks. So Colin lets his uncle die by witholding his medication, in the hope of inheriting the money. A mysterious cat named Balthazar appears, leading him to the gold coins in exchange for food. The cat's choice of meals: human brains.
