The album closes with two new studio tracks, both melodic songs of deep worship, classic Sonicflood fare. Frontman Rick Heil’s warm vocals describe the powers of God’s “Infinite Love” over a bed of jangly strings, a soaring bridge and expressive percussion. This track and the next, “Save Me,” both have a slow burn to them, nicely amping down from the up-tempo rockers of the live tracks. The final minute of “Glimpse” is the upbeat praise chorus of another tongue, ringing true despite the language barrier and reminding us once more of God’s heart for the nations. Sonicflood truly shared their hearts with “Glimpse,” and given us our own glimpse into the Father’s heart in the process.
INO Records’ newest release, out October 31st New Balance Running Shoes, was recorded from international Sonicflood concerts in the past year, including shows in Thailand Nike Free Run 2010, Brazil, India, Ireland, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland, and Turkey. Why such a far-reaching tour? To call all the generations to rise up and show their faith. “Glimpse” contains ten of their worship classics, including “Open the Eyes of My Heart,” “I Want to Know You Jordans 13 Retro,” and “Cry Holy,” in several cases enriched by the band’s interaction with the crowd. These live performances lean heavily on electric guitar to engage the audience, and the nuanced musicianship of Trey Hill and Jordan Jameson add an element of excitement to songs most listeners will find very familiar. The throbbing guitars of “God Is Here” and the solid rock changes lend themselves to atmospheric worship, and their lush rendition of “Everlasting” is much the same. The live portion of the album closes with thundering rocker, “Lord of The Dance,” complete with a mid-song jam that beckons the crowd into a deeper level of worship. With these energetic rockers, “Glimpse” manages to capture Sonicflood’s genuine passion for global missions
If you like Sonicflood, you will also enjoy Casting Crowns' "Lifesong Live" and from one of the leading worship songwriters, Paul Baloche's "Greater Song."
