Temat postu: cool grey 9 Set Etiquette How to be a Successful V
While paying gigs are nice, volunteering as an extra (no pay) is certainly a fine way to get your feet wet and experience movie-making in a non-threatening environment.
Be Patient and Flexible
During the course of the day, the same scene is practiced several times so the principal actors and the director can get a good feel for how everything ought to run. Then the cameras roll for real, often shooting the same scene three to four times, or more. This means you could be doing the same thing seven or eight times, all for perhaps only a few seconds of real-time on the movie screen.
To be an extra in a movie means you’re in the background, creating a sense of realism for the environment. As an extra, the point is to appear as normal as possible and not stand out. If what you are wearing is inappropriate for whatever reason, you might be re-dressed in more nondescript clothes by the Wardrobe Department, as things like prominent logos and brand names are not permitted. If possible, bring a change of clothing in case multiple scenes are being shot.
A final word: If you’re an extra and you’ve been filmed, there are no guarantees you will actually appear in the movie, even briefly. Take it for what it is: a learning experience that will teach you the process, and give you a real sense of whether or not you have the patience and fortitude to succeed in the business.
Are you interested in breaking into the acting business? If so

, one way to start learning about the process would be by volunteering to be an extra in projects that come to shoot in your hometown. Open casting calls for such volunteer opportunities are generally announced through your local media, so keep an eye out for them. If you fit the cultural background, age group, or general description and type the casting directors are looking for, they will be happy to have you.

Another key thing to remember is that you should
never
look directly at the camera, as this is the surest way to get yourself cut from a scene. Also, you're
not
the star of the show; learn this lesson fast.
One of the perks of being a volunteer extra is that they usually feed you very well, and you will certainly learn a lot about the movie-making process. There's also the opportunity to be around famous actors, but it is critical to remember that if you’re fan of an actor

If you’re going to be a successful extra, here’s some practical advice: You need to be able to follow directions, and you need a great deal of patience. As they say in the business, shooting a movie is a lot of ‘hurry up and wait’. There’s a lot of standing around, awaiting the instructions of the production assistant and the rest of the crew, and there’s a lot of repetition. It would be wise to take along a book, or something else to keep yourself occupied during the lengthy wait-times.
